2002 – February 18 – Volume 29, No. 12
OK, we’ll admit it: Our guy who covered the Soo I-500 race in 2002 didn’t get a good enough photo of the race winning Pro-5 Mike Gentz/Gabe Bunke team to get them on the cover, and that was a mistake, but the Soo that year was an odd event thanks to plenty of snafus with timing and scoring. Re-live the multiple twists and turns and eventual breakthrough win by Gentz and Bunke. The same issue also includes a first look at the just-then-unveiled 2003 Arctic Cat lineup, with the exciting Firecat F-7 leading the way. What a sled! There are also first ride impressions on the then-totally-revolutionary Ski-Doo REV chassis. Sitting that far forward will never catch on, right?! Also enjoy complete race stories from New York (ice drags) and Ontario (snocross), a Steve Martin profile, some shocking Holeshots and more.
