2001 – January – Vol. 11, No. 4
The January 2001 issue includes some awesome feature articles that make it particularly appealing. They include a ride across Alaska with Edgar Hetteen, reliving his journey from 40 years earlier that in many ways launched the snowmobile industry. Also, a survivor of a harrowing struggle to survive after being stranded in the backcountry near Cooke City, Montana! Beyond these adventure stories, the issue also includes a whole bunch of tech articles, including a feature on clutching products, a how-to on servicing brakes, a stage tune on a Indy 800 XCR that brought it up to 214 horsepower (yesssssss!!!) and a previous of then-oncoming technology related to emissions. There are two shootouts: One on four different luxury sleds, and another that includes five sets of goggles. There’s a ton of content packed into this 116-page gem!
