1996 – Sept. 16 – Volume 24, No. 3
Most folks think of the Eagle River Derby Track for its winter racing, but in 1996 the famed facility hosted a dusty shootout on a late August weekend featuring some top drivers competing on the infield grass. That same weekend, the best of the East competed at the World Cup Of Grass Drags at Fenwick, Ontario. Snow Week had reporters at both big events, and share the good, the bad and the ugly in this classic issue. Also included on its pages: A fresh story on oval racing’s switch from Formula I twin tracked to Champ 440 as the premier class, a tech feature on weight rules in sled racing, a profile of mod racer Tom Martin and more.
