1992 – October 12 – Volume 20, No. 4
The glory days of grass drag racing were ramping up in the early 1990s, and some of the biggest names competed at the two major events covered in this classic Snow Week issue. In the Upper Midwest, the best on the old SWDRA circuit tried to settle the score at Wausau, Wisconsin, where Ken Hallas won the manufacturers challenge, Norman Ball kicked some Improved Stock trail and Dean Schroeder won most of the mod and Pro Stock classes. Mark “The Great American” Anderson, though, overcame morning engine snafus to win Open Mod 1000 title. In the East the following weekend at the New York Grass Drags Championship in Marilla, New York, Schroeder took a bunch more classes, but Rheume Rodrique won the Open Mod Championship while Bill Bickford, Bruce Schrader, Dan Van Dam, Ingrid Nelson, Bill Cudney and many others showcased their talent in other classes. Read about these epic events, plus catch the profile on Wupper Wacing’s Bosek crew, holeshots, Racewire results from Oregon to New Hampshire and many places in between.
